So we all actually know who he is because he has been everywhere all season. Now he is eligible because of some random rule. I don’t really get mad at the NCAA because I just expect rulings that contradict other rulings. I get it; Auburn did their best lawyer job to get him off, congrats Johnnie Cochran. The main thing I take away from all of this is my continued belief that at some point in the future, the NCAA will no longer have any authority over college football. The main big schools will just break off and form some other governing body that understands that college football’s number one role for the Universities is that it makes money. That is a discussion for another day.
As for Saturday, the SEC Championship game figures to be entertaining because Auburn has to avoid the championship game choke. South Carolina has a lot of talent that broke through at the Swamp and looks primed for an upset. The Gamecocks almost took out Auburn earlier in the year and clearly could do it in Atlanta.
Main thing to look for in this game is will Auburn do its usual slow start and then fast finish. While it has clearly worked, it seems they are playing with fire too much. The key for South Carolina is as always Garcia. If he can come out hot like he did against Bama this could get done. I don’ think it will though. Auburn 35-28.
AC/DC- For those about to rock
Call me a Gamecock homer, but I believe SC can and will pull the upset or I as have said to people in the past week: be the moral compass and save college football from a title game with Auburn and the Cam Newton distraction (because let's face it, it will not go away).
ReplyDeleteLike you said the key is Garcia and the passing game. Auburn contained Lattimore in the game in Sept but Garcia was able to make plays for three qtrs. He just could not hold onto to the football in the fourth quarter. They have enough firepower led by Alshon Jeffrey to keep pace.
Defensively, since containing Cam Newton is near impossible, you have to make him throw the football. If that means only rushing two or three guys so you can have two players spying him, so be it but you have to make him beat with his arm. He already beat them with his legs in Sept., and he could very well throw his well to victory but you have to make him win that way.
Should be a good game, closer than some expect. I'll take the Gamecocks, 31-28.
You're a huge Gamecock homer.
ReplyDeleteNo more than you with the Pens, Jeffrey.
ReplyDeleteThink of the Gamecocks this week as Agent Van Alden in the last episode of Boardwalk Empire,
SPOILER ALERT
When he drowned the corrupt agent because he felt the devil had taken him over. South Carolina is Agent Van Alden and Auburn and Cam Newton are the corrupt agent with the devil inside them. We will drown that out and kill their soul.
OK, Mr. Devils win the Stanley Cup. How confident are you feeling with that pick now? That Kovalchuk deal is looking great for you guys right now. Now all you need to do is teach him how to play in a system and not just do his own thing.
ReplyDeleteAs for Boardwalk Empire, I don't have HBO anymore.
Can we have a SDEE Bowl pool on yahoo? please
